This collection has been sold. SHADO CONTROL's **THOMPSON TWINS COLLECTION!!** ----------------------------------------------- After quite a while to find the time to grab this huge collection, I'm finally able to start listing my collection of my favourite band of all time, The Thompson Twins!! **OH YES!!** These blokes are my favourites!! Their story from their creation to current status is always a treat to remember that anyone can make anything happen in life as long as you have the positive attitude and belief that you can make it happen!! Even their management was incredibly positive in helping out all people who contacted them until they disbanded after "Here's to Future Days". Or maybe it could be the fact, I stopped becoming a teenager. Whatever, here's a collection of the best in music history, lead by one of the greatest musicians, TOM BAILEY!! VINYL LP'S ---------- Note: The "Live at the 101 Clubs" are listed in the "Goodies" section below. Also, I refused to by "Queer" becuase the cover looked like an anus. - THOMPSON TWINS: "A Product Of..." (FA 4130741) BRITISH!! FAME/HANSA!! *This is their first LP and features the *7* member band!! Tom, Chris Bell, Peter Dodd, Joe Leeway, John Roog, Jane Shorter (sexy), and Alannah Currie is only mentioned by her first name with Blackbeard, Macki and Stephen for "playing and singing". - THOMPSON TWINS: "Set" (FA 4131091) BRITISH!! FAME!! All seven!! This is a great, great LP!! - THOMPSON TWINS: "Set" (LA 470) MEXICAN!! HANSA INTERNATIONAL!! A very rare find by today's standards!! Mexico had Fame before the US music industry could started changing things!! Everything is written in Spanish! - THOMPSON TWINS: "In The Name of Love" (AL6-8108) The US version of "Set". You see the simple minded music execs at Arista thought if we name the LP by the single, then the LP will sell, becuase US consumers don't think very well off. Anyway, the single "In the Name of Love" was number one on the dance charts in the US. It didn't become a number one single in crossover as Arista tried to manipulate it. Maybe if they left it alone. - THOMPSON TWINS: "Quick Step and Side Kicks" (204 924) West German!! Arista. All that remained were three!! This is the original name as US ARISTA changed it again! - THOMPSON TWINS: "Side Kicks" **TEST PRESSING!!** (AL 6607) The test pressing label has nothing written on it, so I like to assume the name wasn't changed. - THOMPSON TWINS: "Side Kicks" **BOOK OF THE MONTH RECORDS!!** Real rare! (AL 8 8002) This is the same model number as the Arista release, but the label is not Arista. - THOMPSON TWINS: "Side Kicks" (AL 8 8002) ARISTA!! - THOMPSON TWINS: "Into The Gap" (205 971) West German!! - THOMPSON TWINS: "Into The Gap" (AL 8 8200) *There are two different US covers for "Into the Gap". This one **doesn't** have Tom Bailey smiling, plus Joe Leeway has his finger near his ear. - THOMPSON TWINS: "Into The Gap" (AL 8 8200) *There are two different US covers for "Into the Gap". This one has Tom Bailer smiling and the picture is clearer. Same as the West German cover. - THOMPSON TWINS: "Here's to Future Days" (207 164) *West German!!* Contains the brilliant 5-track insert of "mini-mixes" (FRE TT1) with Tokyo, Breakaway, Don't Mess With Dr. Dream, Lay Your Hands on Me, and Future Days! All different mixes and very cool!! - THOMPSON TWINS: "Here's to Future Days" (AL8 8270)! US ARISTA. As usual, the US version doesn't have a "free 5-track insert". - THOMPSON TWINS: "Here's to Future Days" (AL8 8270)! US ARISTA. As usual, the US version doesn't have a "free 5-track insert". - THOMPSON TWINS: "Close to the Bone" (208 143) GERMAN!! I bought this in London in 1989. I decided never to open it! **SEALED!!** Only *two left!!* - THOMPSON TWINS: "Close to the Bone" (AL 8449) US. Strange, how the entire first side got the plugs, while the entire second side was virtually ignored!!?? - THOMPSON TWINS: "Trash". (25921) WARNER BROS! Their new record label and a great LP. Too bad monopolizing remixer literally destroyed any chance for "Sugar Daddy" as his remix sucked as all of his re-done remixes of the Thompson Twins "greatest hits" package are god aweful!! I don't recognize any of them as legitamate Thompson Twins records. This is the last great LP by them until Shep asshole destroyed them. No wonder why Shep's face is the cover of "Queer". It looks like an asshole. 12" Vinyl!! ----------- Note: I don't recognize the 12" of "Sugar Daddy" becuase of the Shep Pettibone monopolizing remix. It is awful and not worth listening as music. - Make Believe (Let's Pretend)/Lama Sabach Tani (TEE 123) BRITISH!! - In the Name of Love (12" Dance extension)/In The Beginning, Coastline. (TEE 124) BRITISH!! - Runaway (Extended Mix)/Bouncing (Extended Remix) (TEE 125) BRITISH!! - In the Name of Love (5:39)/In the Beginning (3:14), Coastline (3:39) (CP 712) RARE US PROMOTIONAL RELEASE!!! - THOMPSON TWINS EXTRA SPECIAL TUNEFUL TWOSOME!! Arista started a newer type label *at* Hold Me Now. - Hold Me Now (9:46)/Hold Me Now (4:44), Let Loving Start (8:56) (ADP 9158) US!! These were the years when vinyl was cooler than cool! CD's suck!! - Doctor Doctor (Extended Version)/Nurse Shark (4:05) (TWINS 123) BRITISH!! - Doctor Doctor (Extended Version)/Doctor Doctor (LP version), Nurse Shark (4:05) (ADP-9210) US PROMOTIONAL COPY!! - You Take Me Up/Machines Take Me Over (7:33), Down Tools (4:18)/Leopard Ray (3:50), Passion Planet (3:05) (TWINS 124)!! BRITISH!! - You Take Me Up (4:23)/You Take Me Up (4:23) (ADP-9245) RARE US PROMOTIONAL RELEASE!! - You Take Me Up (Club Remix)/You Take Me Up (Album version) (ADP-9250) US PROMOTIONAL RELEASE!! - The Gap (Club Remix Version)/The Gap (AOR Version) (ADP-9289) VERY RARE US PROMOTIONAL RELEASE!! This "Club mix" wasn't released commercially nor was "The Gap" released as a single in England! :) WOW!! BTW, "AOR" stands for Album Oriented Rock. - Sisters of Mercy (Extended version)/Out of the Gap (Exteneded version) (TWINS 125) BRITISH!! "Out of the Gap" is an AWESOME medley mix of all their hits!! It's really cool!! One needs all the import records 12" sleaves from "Into the Gap" to complete the Thompson Twins logo on the back!! TRUVIA!! - Lay Your Hands on Me/The Lewis Carol (Adventures in Wonderland) (TWINS 226) BRITISH!! *Before Nile Rodgers. - Lay Your Hands on Me (US REMIX)/The Lewis Carol (Adventures in Wonderland) (TWINS 226) BRITISH!! *Strange how most of The Thompson Twins "US remixes" were never released in the US. This version of "Lay Your Hands" was before Nile Rodgers got his fiflty hands on it. - Lay Your Hands on Me (Extended version)/Lay Your Hands on Me (3:52), The Lewis Carol (Adventures in Wonderland). (AD-1-9397) US!! This is a great remix/extended version. The version on the Twins "Greatest Hits" LP is horrible and not recognized at SHADO. - Don't Mess With Doctor Dream (Smackattack)/Very Big Business (TWINS 129) BRITISH!! **I SWEAR This record was the second single in Britain, therefore I will post it second. - Don't Mess With Doctor Dream ([U4A]+U3A] = REMIX)/Very Big Business (5:06) (TWINS 229) BRITISH! Great remix featured om the LP German insert as well. Their idea of a high powered polynomial tells me they don't know much about mathamatics. - King For A Day (Extended Mix)/Rollunder (6:05) (TWINS 127) BRITISH!! *Surprisingly, "Rollover" was never released as a single on its own. - King For A Day (US REMIX)/Rollunder (TWINS 227) BRITISH!! *Again a US remix not released in the US. I think I was the only DJ to give it airplay in the US on WXKS-FM/Kiss 108 in 1986. - King For a Day (Rock radio edit), King For a Day (LP version)/Rollover (LP version). (ADP-9442) RARE US PROMOTIONAL RELEASE!! *I used the Rollover side as if it was a single for that record!! - Revolution (Extended Mix)/The Fourth Sunday (TWINS 1210) BRITISH!! This was my *number one* record of 1986 at SHADO CONTROL!! - Nothing in Common (7" remix), Nothing in Common (Street mix - vocal and instrumental), Nothing in Common (Club Mix)/Nothing In Common (7" single), Revolution (Extended remix) (ADI-9519) VERY RARE US PROMOTIONAL RELEASE!! - Get That Love (Extended version)/Get That Love (7" version), Perfect Day (TWINS 1212) BRITISH!! - Get That Love (Single Version), Perfect Day/Get That Love (Extended Remix), Get That Love (Dub Mix). (TEE 2) BRITISH!! - Make Believe (Let's Pretend)/Lama Sabach Tani!! (TEE 3) BRITISH!! - In the Name of Love/In the Beginning!! (TEE 4) BRITISH!! *This record came with (ARIST 504) "Love on Your Side/Love on Your Back"!! - Runaway/Open Your Eye (TEE 5) BRITISH!! **This is one of the best packaged Thompson Twins singles with a brilliant pull-open jackate. It also contains a separate 45rpm which I'll list below. This is all one package advertised as a "Free Limited Edition Live Single" inclusion. - Living in Europe (live)/Make Believe (Let's Pretend) (live)!! (RANK 3) BRITISH!! *This single is part of the TEE 5 package!! - Lies/Beach Culture!! (ARIST 486) BRITISH!! - Lies (stereo)/Lies (mono) (AS 1024 SA/MA) *US PROMOTIONAL*!! In those early days, they released records promotionally in Stereo and Mono. WHY?? Most Amplitude Modulation (AM) radio stations did not even begin to convert to stereo broadcast, therefore a stereo recording would only pick up one channel (usually the left). - Love on Your Side/Love on Your Back (ARIST 504) BRITISH!! *This record is also a double recod set (like TEE 5), however it contained TEE 4 "In the Name of Lofe/In The Beginning" which is listed abouve (TEE 4)! INCREDIBLE!! - Love on Your Side/Love on Your Back (AS 1-9013) US ARISTA/ZOMBA release! - Hold Me Now/Let Loving Start!! (TWINS 2) BRITISH!! - You Take Me Up/Passion Planet!! (TWINS 4) BRITISH!! *Passion Planet* is a great song! A fan/pen pal in PN brought it to my attention a decade ago! - You Take Me Up (special edit)/You Take Me Up!! (AS1-9244) US Promotional! *The "special edit" has a longer running time than the original. 4:09 as opposed to 3:55. - You Take Me Up/You Take Me Up!! (AS1-9244) US Promotional!! This record **doesn't contain** the special edit, so one of these is VERY RARE!! - The Gap/Out of the Gap (medley) (AS1-9290) US Commercial!! *"The Gap" was only released as a single in the US. - Sister of Mercy/Out of the Gap (medley) (TWINS 5) BRITISH!! - Lay Your Hands on Me/The Lewis Carol!! (TWINS 6) BRITISH!! - Lay Your Hands on Me (cold ending)/Lay Your Hands on Me (fade) (AS1-9396) US Promotional!! "AC" stands for "Adult Contemporary" rather than "Air Conditioning"! Funny how the same model #'s constitute different versions!! - Nothing in Common (Special AC mix)/Nothing in Common (Special AC mix) (AS1-9511) US Promotional!! "AC" stands for "Adult Contemporary" rather than "Air Conditioning"! Funny how the same model #'s constitute different versions!! - Get That Love/Get That Love (AS1-9577) US Promotional!! - Get That Love/Perfect Day (AS1-9577) US Commercial!! - Long Goodbye/Long Goodbye (AS1-9609) US Promotional!! CASSETTES --------- - A Product of...Participation (TC-FA 41-3074 4) FAME/HANSA!! BRITISH!! - Set (FA 41 3109 4) FAME!! - Side Kicks (AC 8002) US ARISTA!! *This cassette contains new tracks and remixes on the opposite side. The tracks are "Love Lies Fierce", "Long Beach Culture", "No Talkin'", "Rap Boy Rap", "Frozen In Time", and "Fallen Out"!! - Into The Gap!! (405071) GERMAN!! *This cassette also features new tracks and remixes on the opposite side. The tracks are "Leopard Ray", "Doctor Doctor 12"", "Panic Station", "Down Tools", "Hold Me Now 12"", "Funeral Dance", "Compass Points", "Still Water"!! ULTIMATE RARE GOODIES!! ----------------------- Here's the part I've been waiting to document!! It's great to see all the **really rare** stuff that's out there for The Thompson Twins!! The best part about some of it is that TOM BAILEY made it look like a treasure hunt whether he believed that or not. One cassette is an interview with himself and NILE RODGERS and when you *finally* listen to it, Tom says, "So you've cracked the sacred seal as we knew all along you would. Welcome to The Thompson Twins sampler tape...." GREAT STUFF as we will plug later on!! - (PICTURE DISC) - "Watching"/"Dancersaurus" (TWISD 1) BRITISH!! Very rare picture disc of the Thompson Twins logo of their three heads!! Yes, their first picture disc!! - (PICTURE DISC) - "Doctor Doctor"/"Nurse Shark" (TWISD S) BRITISH!! A "Square" planet with the three head logo as land! Three triangular planes fly across!! Pretty awesome!! - (PICTURE DISC) - "You Take Me Up"/"Passion Planet" (TWISD 4) BRITISH!! More rareness as a round globe with the three traingular planes flying in front in different angles!! - (PICTURE DISC) - "Sister of Mercy"/"Out of the Gap" (TWISD 5) BRITISH!! My favourite TT picture disc of one of those triangular planes!! This is fun!! - (PICTURE DISC) - "Lay Your Hands on Me"/"The Lewis Carol" (TWISD 6) BRITISH!! The best looking picture disc I've seen from the band of a diamond with the twins inside!! Pretty cool!! Makes record collecting fun!! - (PICTURE DISC) - "Don't Mess With Doctor Dream"/"Big Business" (TWISD 9) BRITISH!! The little naked brat kid missing his or her private part! - (VINYL NETWORK RADIO BROADCAST SPECIAL!) - "Profile '86 - The Thompson Twins"!! (L 23657....NBC-86-TTT) An extremely rare three record set with its own broadcast dates of "February 21, 22, 23 of 1986"!! Can go as high as $200.00!! Stereo with the NBC logo!! This special is incredibly awesome with full interviews, music, and even the commercials!! The only problem is the arrogance of the US Network monopolistic broadcasters. They totally suck!! - (VINYL 101 CLUB!!) - "Live at the 101 Club: Band'its at 10 O'clock"!! (POLYDOR 2384 116) This is a 1980 record and features the Twins very first single, "Squares and Triangles". Cut #3, side #2!! Many bands are also featured who perfomed at this club (now gone....shame on the monopolizing record industry). Bands include: "Comsat Angels", "Electric Eels", "The Hit Men", "Holly and the Italians", "Huang Chung" "Jane Kennaway & Strange Behaviour", "The Piranhas", "Real to Real", The V.I.P.'s", "Wasted Youth" and of course "The Thompson Twins"!!! VERY RARE!!! - (VINYL 101 CLUB!!) - "Live at the 101 Club: Warts'n'All"!! (POLYDOR 2478 139) Another 1980 pressing, but this time The Thompson Twins get the top bill *and* two songs!! "Physics and Chemistry" and "Slave Trade!" Total hardcore coolness!! Other bands featured: "Deaf Aids", "Philip Gayle", "Jane Kennaway & Strange Behaviour", "Local Heros SW9", "The Mechanics", and of course THE THOMPSON TWINS!!! VERY RARE!!! The club was located at St. John's Hill, Clapham, England. - (VINYL INTERVIEW SAMPLER) - "The Thompson Twins Interview Sampler"!! (ADP-9586) US PROMOTIONAL/ARISTA!! From the days of CLOSE TO THE BONE, Tom Bailey and Alannah Currie get "interviewed" by some loser for a radio station in Pittsurgh I guess. The interview is great, but loses the flavour of "the enjoyment of youth" from those early TT days! Also on side two are the best cuts from the CLOSE TO THE BONE LP!! "21st Century" happens to be cut one!! GOOD CHOICE!!! "Get That Love" (6:25) version, "Long Goodbye" and "Bush Baby!"!! - (VINYL) - "The Thompson Twins: The First Session"!! (SFNT 005) Remixed and remastered old tunes from "A Product of..."!!! This really is a great record!!! From the "taped archives of BBC's Radio 1". Where are all those Doctor Who TV shows??? A series of these records were released and the TT's happened to be one of them!! - (VINYL MAGAZINE) "Debut" Issue 01!! (LP MAG 1) GERMAN!! These were the days of the '80's when magazines and records were released together in one HUGE set!! It made it "cool" to collect as if the fans were part of the rock-n-roll. CD's and monopoly record companies will never allow it to happen again...let them lose money!! Anyway "Watching" is featured on side 2, cut 5!! Lots of popular bands are also featured includuding BIG COUNTRY and WANG CHUNG!! TT's are on the front cover in all their glory!! - (VINYL MAGAZINE) "Debut" Number 05!! (DEBUT LP/Zeitschrift Ausgabe 5) "No Peace for the Wicked" is featured on Side 2, cut 5!! Again they get the front cover!! Many popular bands are also featured including, YELLO, THE STYLE COUNCIL, ULTRAVOX and BILLY IDOL!! - (VINYL SOUNDTRACK) "Nothing In Common". Well, I guess this was a decent movie...I don't know, I never saw it! Just got the Thompson Twins record for this dreadful song!! - (VINYL PRODUCTION!!) Debbie Harry "I Want That Man"!! WHAT AN INCREDIBLE record produced by TOM BAILEY!! Just completely cool!! Thank goodness it was all Bailey and no one else!!
